I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Election Asteriod yet, but I heard about it and it intriqued me. It seems there is an asteroid heading for Earth that will come close to us around election day. According to scientists, this asteroid is about 7 feet long and will “shave” Earth quite closely compared to other near-misses. Because of it’s size, there is really no need to worry as even if this were to strike us, it would burn up in the atmosphere.

However, as I was reading this article, the writer mentioned something that caught me off guard. Maybe it shouldn’t have in light of some of the lack of faith in the media and scientific communities. It was stated that “the only protection the Earth has at the moment is pure dumb luck.” Seriously?

Psalm 33:6 speaks of the sovereignty of the Lord by saying, “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.” It goes on to say in verse 9 “For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.” God’s word is very clear that God created this world and He continues to hold sovereignty over the earth and ALL of the universe.

Do you remember singing the song “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands” when you were young? Luck is something that people of no faith talk about. As a believer, I don’t deal in luck, but in the unchanging Word of God. According to scripture, which is more secure than a scientist’s belief, pure dumb luck doesn’t play into the security of this world, or anything else for that matter. My hope is place firmly in what God says, because He can’t change nor can His Word.

There are so many things in this life to steal away our peace. Remember, “A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” John 10:10 The Message I want to speak a word of peace over your life.

May the comfort of God and the peace of Holy Spirit surround your mind even now. May your heart received the fullness of God’s peace and love so that you walk without fear or reliance on people’s opinions or actions. May you walk, not as a person who has been robbed, but as a child of God who has received real and eternal life….a better life.
