Sometimes it’s good to look back. Many times we are so focused on the future that we miss what is right before us.
The Lord spoke something to me tonight that made me think. I was having one of those honest times with Him. (As if He doesn’t already know.) During this time I was sharing with Him some disappointments. We all have those times when we wish things were different than they are. As humans, it seems that we’re never really satisfied with what we have in the present. We scheme and manipulate and even bargain to have more than what we have now. It reminds me of some words from a song by Rich Mullens. He said, “I’d rather fight you for something I don’t really want than take what you give that I need. ”
As I was doing my typical complaining and questioning, I heard the familiar words spoken by King David…“surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. “
What He was teaching me in that moment was to look back and see where every step I’ve ever taken, He was there. If I look back, I’d see where goodness and mercy were following me. I use to say the I have two angels, Goodness and Mercy. They follow me because they have to pick up everything I leave behind.
He went on to assure me that I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. His presence will be there. Jesus said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. ” Through it all, I’m assured of His ongoing presence in my life. What a promise!
Friend, let me encourage you in this today. Look back and see the goodness of God in your life. He loves you. His heart is for you.
Psalms 27:13 NKJV
I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.

Thanks for your message as it is so needful in the time we are now living in at this present time. From Pennsylvania
Thanks! Rest in His work, not your own.
