While taking some youth to a local park the other day, I came across this tree. The first thing I noticed was how its roots were all spread out. Immediately of thought of the scripture from Psalm 1 that speaks of those who sit in God’s counsel will be like trees planted by the water edge. I then remembered a message delivered by Pastor Mike Stottlemeyer when he was at Fresh Fire Church in Uniontown, PA with Pastor Adam Lawson. He spoke of a man in the bible who was so used to being in the presence of God that he moved his family to Jerusalem.
Then I heard that question so clearly…Where do you reside?
I have to admit that there are times when I dont feel as close to God as I want to. Remember the old saying…If youre not feeling close to God…who moved? The only way for me to feel close to my Father is to spend time with Him. The more time I spend with Him the more I know him. As Im listening to His voice, He reveals the intimate things of the Kingdom.
I am feeling His presence as I have never felt. I hear Him speaking clearer than ever. I feel His heartbeat louder…as if I was right next to him with my head on His chest. Why??? Because I have positioned myself close to Him.
So let me ask you, where do you reside? Are you setting uo camp near the water…ready to soak it in? Are you sitting with your head on His chest listening to His hearbeat? Are you sitting at His feet listening intently to every word He says? If not, I encourage you to move. Be alert…in the Kingdom position is everything. Yes He has called us to sit in Heavenly places with Christ Jesus but have you accepted that call or are you sitting in the back watching what happens? Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
Jeremiah 17:7-8 NLT
“But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit.
