So the Christmas holiday is well upon us.  Christmas music is flowing. Cookies are baking. Decorations are hanging. Presents are being snatched up by the buggy-full.   So are you ready?

I’m not asking if you are ready for December 25th. What I want to know is, Are you ready to tell others why you participate in the largest birthday party ever?

1 Peter 3.15 says to “…always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you…”–AMP

As this season progresses, there are many who don’t even acknowledge Christmas. When did the “holiday tree” start? What holiday is it when they say “happy holidays” and why don’t they say that for any other holiday? Why do we give so many gifts to everyone else except the “birthday boy?”

One clue I’ve seen is found in the beginning of 1 Peter 3.15…it says “But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy (and acknowledge Him) as Lord…”–AMP  Does Christ really have the place of honor in our lives? As the Christmas song goes, have we really prepared Him room in our hearts or is He just as visitor that just hangs out on Sundays?

While I think it’s wrong when cities cannot display a Nativity or schools can’t even have a Christmas party, I believe this stems from our inability to reason the truth with those around us.
