All Is Forgiven

Going through some of my favorite CD’s from my past, I picked up a disc from artist Michael O’Brien. On this disc is his top hit “What Held You On The Cross.” While every song on this project is good, as I was driving down the road, one song stood out to me. All Is Forgiven

The song is the story of the woman who was caught in adultery…a familiar story to most of us. If you know the story, you know she was caught in the act of adultery. According to the law, her punishment was stoning. There was no way out of her situation. She was caught, judged, and about to be executed.

Then a man named Jesus entered the scene. He was very familiar with the law. As a natural man, he was raised to recite and know the law of Moses. As divine, He has existed throughout time and so was there when Moses received the law. Jesus knew the written law and the spirit of the law. What intrigues me throughout the life of Jesus is that we find that He didn’t break the law. In fact, He said He came to fulfill it. He didn’t tell her accusers that the law didnt apply to her. He didn’t even tell them not to stone her. Instead, He used the law.

Scripture says He knelt down and wrote in the dirt. No one can say for sure what He wrote but maybe He began to write the law and the punishment for breaking it. All I know is that when he stood up, everyone except the woman had left. Jesus then said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.” According to law, He would’ve been the only one qualified to stone her. But He didn’t.

The words to this song resonate so clearly through me:

All is forgiven, I’ve heard you plea
My grace has cleansed your heart, my love has set you free.
All is forgiven, my mercy’s the open door
All is forgiven, go sin no more

Friend, we have all been caught in our sins. You may think you’ve gotten by with them. Even if no mortal knows, God does. What is so amazing is that He offers His grace for our sins. Mercy is the open door. Not doing it again shuts the door behind us. We don’t hear too much about sin today. We normally hear preachers call them mistakes or shortcomings. According to the Word, ALL have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. No one escapes. Or do they????? The only way of escape is to have your sins washed clean by the blood of Jesus. Its so simple…just like A, B, C’s….ASK…invite Him into your heart and life. BELIEVE…that He is the Son of God and that He can take your sins away (for with the heart one believes unto righteousness). CONFESS…confess the Lord Jesus with your mouth (and with the mouth, confession is made into salvation). Its that simple.

Remember, His mercy is the open door and its open to you. Dont live another day without His healing. Recieve it today.
