Have You Had Enough Yet?

If you live where I live, and probably some other places, then you have had your fair share of snow this year. It seems like many places are getting more snow than they expected. Some are getting snow where they seldom see it.

In one of the previous posts here at The Balm of Gilead, I mentioned how when I see snow I am reminded of God’s promise in the book of Isaiah. God declares that though our sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow. For the most part, I love snow. However, when I was talking to a co-worker and he made the statement that he was tired of this stuff, I responded by saying that I was getting close to that sentiment. This afternoon that statement came back to me.

How many times just today have you needed His grace? How many times have you given it? I was reading about King David. Here was a man who was plagued with problems since he was a young child. His father and brothers unknowingly tried to stop the prophet from anointing him king. The giant didn’t think he was big enough to defeat him. He commits adultery and murder because he let his eyes stray. His house is infested with deceivers and lyers. His kingdom was constanly under seige from the inside and out. Yet through all these things…sins of his own and the evil of others, God says he is a man after His own heart.

What is the heart of God and what does it mean to be after it? Over the next few posts, I want to explore what it means to “have the heart of God.” Send me your thoughts and we’ll delve deep into the “heart” issue. Through our search, I believe we can step into a healing for each of us.

But I say to you, up to seventy times seven shall you forgive.
Matthew 18:22
