I wanted to take a moment today to honor a man of faith that passed away yesterday. I’m sure you’re aware of Dr Oral Roberts and his graduation to glory. Here was a man who took the anointing that was in his hands and partnered it with the media of his day. He was truly a pioneer…blazing the trail for many of us today.

As someone who is involved in the media of radio, I’m very aware of the potential to reach people. Several times throughout the day, our ministry prays on-air and we have seen souls saved, bodies healed, hearts encouraged. We have received testimonies on how God has healed someone at the very moment we were praying. God is still on the throne and He is still healing people…body, soul, and spirit.

Dr Roberts used the medium of television to reach a generation. He took what was available to him and used it to bring the message of God’s love to hurting people. I enjoy watching the old footage of the tent crusades and the miracles that would take place.

What Dr Roberts did with the varied formats was to take them and use them for God’s glory. From radio and television to tent meetings and passing his wisdom to the students at ORU, he left a legacy that will linger on. However, his greatest legacy was not just making sure his name was remembered but making sure that the name of Jesus

and his healing power was known to the world. Now that’s a true legacy and His name will last forever.

Whatever your veiw is on Oral Roberts, there is no doubting the lives that were touched through him. That same anointing is available to you today. That same Jesus that he preached about can do the same for you. Use the gifts that God has placed within you to reach those who need to hear the Good News. Maybe its through radio or television or maybe through the internet or even a blog. Whatever the medium, just be faithful to God’s calling.
