Ok, I’ve heard of this before but I’ve never understood it. Can someone please explain?
When I make a post on WordPress, it will randomly generate possible links to other stories on the same topic. After I made the last post about the “How Many Suits Do You Need?” and the suit that wards off the swine flu, one of the possibly related posts that it generated was an article about healing stones. So, me and my infinite curiosity began to do more research.
If you google or yahoo search for healing stones, you will get a plethora of websites with information on these “stones that heal.” The most popular and common that I found were quartz crystals but it seems that many rocks have healing properties. Now don’t laugh. For some reason, many people put their trust in these hardened minerals. I can’t help but think that something else has hardened in someone’s brain to believe this.
Now before someone picking up this blog emails me and complains that I am not being tolerant of their views, let me first say that as a believer in and follower of Christ, I must first and foremost find the answers to my questions in the Word of God. I believe that through the Truth of the Living Word, we can see and apply God’s truth into our lives. Second, I don’t believe that disciples of Christ should be ignorant (unlearned) and totally dispel common sense. Christians shouldn’t throw away their brains when Jesus comes to live within their hearts. Through my walk, I have learned that God’s truth will verify science and science will verify God’s truth.
That said, let’s look at what the Word says. I don’t see anywhere in scripture where a rock could heal anyone except for one…the Rock Christ Jesus. I have found where the leaves of the tree in the book of Revelation are for the healing of the nations. I have found it recorded where mud was used by Jesus was used to heal a man’s blindness. Maybe you want to call mud liquid rock, but I don’t see the connection. I do believe that there is a case in the Bible for using natural medicinal means.
Now let’s look at scientific data. I believe in medical applications so I’m not against using natural means to heal. As I began to search how certain stones can heal certain medical and emotional, and yes, they claim even spiritual problems, I wanted to discover how a mineral that has hardened can potentially effect ones physical, mental, or spiritual person. Without actually ingesting or apply the stone, which may work in some cases, there is little to no scientific proof that they can actually heal. I take a daily vitamin and mineral supplement so I can understand how ingesting a mineral can help. There is even some proof of a certain stone that is applied to the skin and can act as an anti-persperant. And there is some proof that certain minerals can be beneficial to the mind or other minerals can be harmful to the mind if enough quantities are ingested or applied to the skin. Knowing these things, I can speculate how a reasonable person could see the benefits. However, here is the premise for the rock healers: there is an energy from these stones that body and emotional state of mind (which by the way I don’t believe), but to say that a piece of earth can bring me spiriteminate out and cause a reaction within the physical body that heals the body and the mind, and that same energy can effect that spiritual being of a person. It’s one thing for me to accept that an “energy” from a rock can alter my physical healing is totally ludicrous and beyond rational thinking.
It amazes me that people will put their trust in rocks without much if any validity, but when there is proof that Jesus is the one He said He is, some meet it with disbelief. If you read More Than A Carpenter or Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh McDowell or The Case For Christ by Lee Strobell and other authors I’m sure, you will find overwhelming proof that Jesus fulfilled every prophecy made about Him. Just the fact of Him fulfilling just ten is a super-amazing feat in it’s own right, let alone over 300. The odds of this happening are beyond human possibilities. It seems that in our search to gain more knowledge, some have ignored the One who knows all things. While looking for ways to receive our healing, there are those who have looked beyond the One who heals. If God wanted to use a rock to heal us, He would certainly have every right to do that. However, if that was possible, then there would have been no need for Jesus to take the stripes upon His back, which paid for our healing. We need to look to Him, the author and the finisher of our faith. And by the way, I believe that it IS God’s will to heal. My pastor says that if it was not God’s will to heal, then God would have to apologize to Jesus for the scourging. He brought us total atonement. Not just a hope for heaven but also a promise for earth.
If you are reading this and you need a healing, I encourage you to look to the Cross. There you will find the One who is able to heal. Maybe you are reading this and you need a touch deep within your spirit. Don’t put your trust in intangible objects. Look to Jesus. He alone is able to heal; spirit, soul, and body. If you want to know more about Him, contact me or click on one of the ministry links I have added. My friends at any of the links will be more than happy to point you to the resurrected Lord.
But He was pierced through for our trangressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed.
