It’s About Time

First of all, sorry it’s been a while since my last post. Free time has been something that I haven’t had much of lately. If you stand still, it seems that the whole world will pass you by.

Globally, many things are going on…some good, some not so good. The G20 Summit starts today in Pittsburgh which isn’t very far away and the United Nations has convened with leaders all over the world pouring into the U.S   On the national level, floods are raging, politicians are fighting over health care reform, scientists are working on new potato for McDonald’s french fries, and the Fed didn’t change interest rates. Locally, the temperature is dropping and so are the leaves which are already turning brilliant colors.

So what does all of this have to do with you and me? While each of these things may affect our lives to varying degrees, what really matters is what is happening within you. Some don’t like the question “How do you feel?” but I believe that it reveals more about the person than one would think.

If you talk to someone long enough, you can usually figure out what their state of mind is. Given enough time, most people will eventually reveal their hidden heart. This is why relationships are so important. I have mentioned several times on TBOG about how important close friendships are.

Think about this, even Jesus had close friends. At varying levels, He was connected with so many people. From the multitude to the 70 to the 12 and then to the 3 and then the one. What was sad was when He asked His best friends to pray with Him and they fell asleep. Several times this happened and finally He just gave up. Do you ever wonder what would’ve happened if they would have prayed with Him? The crucifixion was still going to take place but maybe His burden could have been lightened.

The closer I get to God, the more He reveals Himself to me and myself to me. I try to spend the beginning of every day with Father. For me that means that when the clock strikes midnight, I want to be wrapping things up so I can talk to my Dad. For some of you, it’s when you wake up in the morning or sometime during your day. Whenever it works for you is OK as long as it you make that time a priority.

I know you’ve heard this before but as a reminder, remember that everyone is given 24 hours every day. You can’t buy more time but you can waste it. Use it wisely.

Do this, knowing the time, that is is already the hour for you to waken from your sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed.
