Hey Dad! Can I Come Visit?

My soul thirsts for God, for the living God; When shall I come and appear before God? My tears have been my food day and night, while they say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” Psalm 42:2-3

This has been my prayer lately. As I have been sitting in my prayer room late at night, pouring my heart out before Him, I am ask myself, “Where is my God?” “When can I go meet with Him?” I know He is near and His Word (which is binding to Him….He cannot change it) says, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” I talk to Him and I hear His voice. Still, I know there is something more.

I think I would’ve done very well if I lived years ago under a king. There is a protocol for living in a kingdom that I think we in America have lost. Even now, if you go to England, even though Queen Elizabeth has very little power and is sometimes not even liked, she is still respected and honored. I remember a couple months ago when our President actually touched her……what in the world was he thinking???? It’s nothing against him. It just shows how we are not used to showing honor even when that person may or may not be honorable. We should honor the office even if we don’t care for or agree with that person.

Onto better things….when there is a king or queen, a person may not approach them without first being given permission or asked to appear. God is that way. We cannot come into His presence unless He gives an invitation. We can’t even initiate a relationship with Him unless He first extends the offer. No one comes to the Father unless they are first given an invitation by the Holy Spirit. Even then, the offer requires us to go through Jesus Christ. Holy Spirit just gives us the offer.

However, God has been speaking to me lately about having free access into His presence. So many reserve it for a Sunday church service or a special meeting. I don’t need to wait for the latest worship song to start playing. Sometimes it does require us to break free from our mindsets and the cares of the day. I do believe that God has given us access any time of the day and every day of the year. We reserve God for festivals and conferences when He offers us His presence living within us.

You may say that you can’t feel Him. Maybe you can’t hear His voice right now. I can’t answer why or offer you any formulas or gimmicks that will magically cause these things to happen. I do know that His Word says that He is near to a broken and contrite spirit. Read Psalm 51:17 and Isaiah 57:15.

Psalm 42:11 gives us Good News. “Why art thou cast down oh my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God; for yet I shall praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
