I love Christian music. From a very early age, I found the Good News through music. Maybe that’s why I enjoy Christian radio so much and the ministry at He’s Alive Radio. I know the power of the Gospel can be communicated through music and it’s often music that gets our attention before other things.
We are playing a song that got my attention from the first time I heard it and it continues to speak to me. It speaks about freedom that is given through Christ to walk out your destiny even though things may not seem perfect. Who lives in a perfect world anyhow? My perfect world is a faith world and even then I struggle with it.
This song is by a young lady whose name is Fancesca Battistelli and the title is “Free To Be Me.” Check out her website at http://www.francescamusic.com She is a great up-and-coming artist that I hope stays around for a while.
At twenty years of age I’m still looking for a dream
A war’s already waged for my destiny
But You’ve already won the battle
And You’ve got great plan for me
Though I can’t always see
‘Cause I’ve got a couple dents in my fenders
Got a couple rips in my jeans
Try to fit the pieces together
But perfection is my enemy
On my own I’m so clumsy
But on Your shoulders I can see
I’m free to be me
When I was just a girl
I thought I had it figured out
My life would turn out right
and I’d make it here somehow
But things don’t always come that easy
And sometimes I would doubt
And you’re free to be you
Sometime I believe that I can do anything
Yet other times I think I’ve got nothing good to bring
But You look at my heart and You tell me that I’ve got all You seek
And it’s easy to believe
Even though
This song isn’t saying that you can do or be anything you want, it reminds us that we are free to be who God has created us to be I’ve found that one of the most sure-fired ways to walking in wholeness is NOT to walk in somebody else’s shoes and to find your own destiny and purpose in Christ.
Until then…I’m free to be me!
