Pastor Sharon has been giving us God’s Orders (GO) and we have been doing just that. As a believer of many years, I don’t have a problem talking to someone about the goodness of God and His love for fallen man.
We are part of the Angel Food program along with many churches and community groups throughout the nation. Once a month we distribute food to local people. I am involved with the process of unloading the tractor trailer and dividing it to each church that participates in our area. Each church has a desire to reach out and touch their communities with practical help.
Today, I was also able to help disperse the food to the folks in Grantsville. During this time, a lady came and I was helping her carry her food out. As I was doing that, I struck up a conversation with her and she began sharing with me about a condition in her spine. She then told me about her sister who has cancer. Without any hesitation, I stopped and asked her if I could pray. She agreed and I took her hand and began to pray.
Now here we were in a relatively safe environment. We are free in this country to pray with and for one another. Because I was on ministry property at He’s Alive Radio, there was little chance of me being ridiculed for expressing my God-given right and responsibility to pray for someone else. It was an easy way of touching someone with the love of God.
Some other avenues may not be as easy. Ever walk into a grocery store and tell someone about Jesus or ask them if you can pray with them? It’s not as hard as you might think though. Many times as I’m walking down the aisles at a grocery store or a Walmart, I am moved by Holy Spirit to reach out to someone and interrupt their journey.
For me, I am usually moved by compassion. I can be minding my own business and I will instantly be overcome with a compassion for that person. I usually don’t know what the problem is, but I know that I must connect with them. It leads me to stop and say something thar will open the door for me to enter their personal space. I will often start off talking about something that we may have in common and then I will begin to delve a little deeper.
Within no time, I have an open door to offer prayer or point them in a direction of help. Many times I will direct them to a local ministry that I have connected with. Often, I will simply pray and believe for God to touch their life.
What does not surprise me is that this can happen all the time. Believers and non-believers alike are hurting and broken and in need of The Balm of Gilead. Everyone is dealing with something within themselves or with those around them and they need the healing touch of Jesus.
My friend, make it a point today to reach out to someone that you come in contact with. Allow Holy Spirit to guide you to someone that God wants to show His love to. It’s easy and you will become of conduit for the Balm that flows through you.
